Knoll and Lane Office Participate in NYC Grows

NEW YORK, NY – April 25, 2010 – Lane Office’s Isabel Munoz and Christopher Mimnaugh participated in NYC Grows, a family-friendly festival celebrating all things green in the big apple. The outdoor event was held at New York City’s Union Square Sunday, April 25th. Lane Office was stationed at the Knoll booth demonstrating the revolutionary new chair, Generation by Knoll. The Knoll booth was part of the “Living Green in NYC” section of NY Grows.

Attendees included construction managers, general contractors, developers, architects, engineers and other green product suppliers. Workshops included “Making Green From Green” and “Green Building Incentives,” plus a Green Job Training Panel.

Lane Office provided Knoll furniture for the VIP lounge and booth seating. The Lane Office booth within the Expo showcased Knoll and DIRTT products.

DIRTT’s Founder, Mogens Smed, Recognized by ASID

CALGARY, ALBERTA – April 5, 2010 – The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) announced it will recognize Mogens Smed’s leadership in the field of interior design at an awards ceremony during the 2010 NeoCon World’s Trade Fair this June.

Mogens will receive the ASID Product Prize – Individual. This prestigious award recognizes an individual who has contributed a significant and lasting body of work relating to products for interior design. Mogens will receive the honor during a Celebration Awards Ceremony at the ASID National Conference in Chicago on June 14. He joins a select group who will receive the Society’s highest honors and be inducted into the 2010 Class of Fellows.

In advising Mogens of the award, ASID Chair of the Awards Jury, Lisa Henry, wrote, “Your innovation and reputation as an international leader in socially conscious and contemporary workspaces makes you highly deserving of this award.” The award citation notes that DIRTT products set a new standard for smart construction with modular and adaptable walls and power solutions. The company’s software, ICE was singled out for enabling DIRTT to save time in planning and construction, protect landfills from construction waste and offer customized and changeable wall solutions. Equally important to the awards committee was how Mogens’ design philosophy has advanced the practice of interior design.

Mogens is adamant that sustainable design has to be beautiful, cost effective and good for people, not just green. This acknowledgement by the ASID of DIRTT’s record is significant given the current mania for all things green regardless of design merit or cost. Of course he is just as adamant that this award should be going to all DIRTTbags, ICEcubes and Spider People, “Being singled out is unrealistic, when it is so obvious I wouldn’t be even considered for this if it weren’t for the people.”

Tayco Furniture and Mullen Project Featured in Office Insight

NEW YORK, NY – March 15, 2010 – This week’s edition of Office Insight includes articles about two longtime Lane Office collaborators, Ken Gibson and Larry Berger, RA. Ken Gibson launched his business, Gibson Interior Products, at NeoCon in 1993 with some friendly advice from Gregory F. Burke, president of Lane Office.

Mr. Burke and Mr. Gibson recently collaborated on a project with Larry Berger, RA, Managing Design Director of TPG Architecture. The project, a new headquarters for advertising agency Mullen, is located in Boston, MA and is comprised primarily of open work areas. Tayco’s versatile post-and-beam system, Up, provided flexibility and cost saving, contributing to the overall success of the project.

Todd Kupferman Joins Lane Office as Account Executive

NEW YORK, NY – February 8, 2010 – Lane Office is proud to announce that Todd Kupferman has joined the firm as Account Executive. Mr. Kupferman has over 25 years of industry experience and a thorough understanding of modular wall systems. After earning a bachelor’s degree in design, he began his career at a furniture dealership in Long Island. He later joined Smed International and was responsible for the installation of several miles of walls. His accounts included Pfizer and Teachers’ Insurance Plan.

His role at Lane Office will focus on business development and account management for DIRTT and furniture projects. Mr. Kupferman’s technical knowledge of walls and his background in design make him an excellent addition to the Lane Office sales team.
